I’d like to take a minute to thank my readers for being kind enough to give me some of your attention during my first few weeks in this forum. Now that you’ve hopefully gotten some sense for what I’m about and what I might be able to offer, I’d like to open up the floor.
What do you want to know about? Are there questions you haven’t asked, or haven’t gotten the right responses to? This should be an interactive experience, so let me know what you want to read. I’ll do my best to leave no question un-answered.
Please comment below, or email me at hr.dave1@gmail.com.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Dave – I had a great interview the other day with someone from HR and 3 other departments heads. All seemed to go really well. Before I was to leave, the HR person started telling me about next steps — that she’d be in touch to talk about my conversations with the department heads, guage my interest in the job, and most likely bring me in to meet with one more person; most likely to see if it was a fit. She mentioned twice that they were moving quickly on filling the position and said that I’d hear back from her soon. It’s been a few days and I haven’t heard a thing. Should I just move on?
Hi Jessie –
“Soon” means different things to different people. For her, it may mean a few days or even a week. For others it may mean 10 minutes. I wouldn’t totally move on yet, but proceed with a sense of realism in that it could go either way. Follow up with the HR rep tomorrow via phone or email and just say that you’re still excited about the opportunity and anxious to hear about next steps. After that, leave it in her court.
